I have just finished transcribing Dr. Landsborough's 1819 list of the
inhabitants of Stevenston(part Saltcoats), which Jill McColl has at Ardrossan
Library.
I have found it a very useful document. Some entries give three generations,
for example: Salt Garnel Close, James Skeoch, Merchant, Eliz. Reside, James,
John, Jean, Eliz., Janet with Widow Skeoch age 89. Unfortunately he only
gives ages for people over 80!! but at 33 pages long it has a lot of names.
In the hope that it might be useful to more people I have given a copy to
Graham Wilson for his site at Ayrshireroots.com and am giving a copy to Alex
Hughes for the Ayrshire page.
I hope some of you will strike it lucky.
