Hi Keith,

The Kirkoswald parish records are available at your nearest Mormon FHC
and at the local history units in Ayrshire. I would check the OPRs for
Kirkoswald and if not there you may want to check to see if your Robert
& Mary Tait were born in 1855 onwards for if they were they will have a
birth certificate.

I presume you mean their daughter Mary was born c1878 and not 1778.
There will be a birth certificate for her and it should reveal
when/where her parents married. You may want to have this information
before you start to look for their births. If you live in Edinburgh you
will be very handy to NRH.
