On Scots Origins I found a number of marriages, births, etc., which
probably are from my husband's family. Now I need to locate the
microfilms or original records. When I downloaded the OPR information
from Scots Origins, one field often gave numbers which the directions
said referred to LDS microfilmed records, however, they weren't long
enough to be film numbers. An example would be FR #356. There were also
GRO numbers, also 3 digits. Can anyone tell me how to use either set of
numbers to get further information?
I will be in Edinburgh for 2 days in August, so if the GRO is open then,
could check there. Can someone give me their hours, and information on
whether or not a need a reservation, etc.? Unfortunately I won't get to
Ayrshire, since I'll be with a church choir tour group. Other than
Edinburgh we'll be in Aberdeen, Kirkcaldy, Wormit and Kirriemuir.
Anything I should definitely not miss in any of those locations? Send
directly to me <> to avoid loading up the list.
Thanks! Margaret
