Hi Lynda,
Yes, the building was still there when I was last in Ayr, though no longer
as a church. I believe that it became a theatre after ceasing to be a church.
My wife and I were married there in 1960, and, we discovered a couple of
years ago, her ancestors were christened there 110 yrs previously.
It's next to a bridge over the River Ayr, on the road that comes from Prestwick
into the centre of Ayr.
Incidentally, in her family tree is a James Gibson, who married a Mary
Tyrie in 1723. Any connection?
