My ggrandfather was DAVID HASTINGS .HE was probably born in Maybole.In
1888 at Newington Edinburgh he married JANE MCCALLUM also likely of
Maybole.Their children were HUGH,my grandfather,TOM,ALEXANDER,JESSIE,
HELEN ELLIOT NELLIE, WILLIAM,DAVID and JENNIE.
Hoping there is some data available to further track them into Maybole
or elsewhere. HUGH was a shoemaker per his information 1915 Canadian
Expeditionary Force enlistment. I have his birthdate and SCivil Reg
number but when I e-mailed the general registry office for help in
formally requesting a copy of his birth certificate or the marriage
license of his parents I received a convoluted form e -mail in return.
Can anyone give me specific instructions as to how I apply for ,to whom
and for how much in order to get these documents which I assume would
hold more information. I'm green.. but getting yellow..because of such
confusing instructions.
