There were 4 Thomas Kennedys as head of household in Kilmarnock, but
only one with wife Mary, as follows:
1851 census, book 29, page 16, house 11, Thirdpart, Limekills
Thomas Kennedy, head, marr, 26, coal miner, born Riccarton
Mary Kennedy, wife, marr, 23, born Riccarton
John Kennedy, son, 4, born Kilmarnock
Jessie Kennedy, dau, 3 ms, born Kilmarnock
David Lovesly, visitor, 10, scholar, born Kilmarnock
I also found on the next page, at house 13
John Kennedy, head, marr, 24, coal miner, born Riccarton
Cathrine Kennedy, wife, marr, 22, born Riccarton
Thought I'd note this down as they could be brothers.
But I must tell you - I recognised this address! (although I think it
should actually be spelled 'Limekilns'). Several doors along, at house
number 5, are my gt-gt grandparents George & Agnes Reid, with some of
their children. George was an engineer at the mine and three of his sons
were coal miners. So, my ancestors and yours were neighbours and worked
together, so no doubt knew each other!
