My George M'Murdo born 1847 in Lugar died 1921 in Niagara
Falls, NY USA, published two books of poetry in 1882 and 1888. He was from
Dalmellington, Muirkirk and Catrine and married Jessie Boon(e). The son of
John M'M 1821- 1889 and Agnes Laidlaw, he was the grandson of George M'M
1789-1869 and Marian Lorimer.
It is illuminating how many people he wrote about. I will try to
give a brief index of names in hopes that they might be recognized. I'm only
looking at the second edition 1888 will have to locate my 1882. Of course,
his best poetry is in dialect, ' The wee Pit Mouse' or other collier things.
I will post Geo M'M, Commondyke but it doesn't give as much insight into the
memorialized as revealed in some of his poetry. I'm hoping to identify which
George: his grandfather, his uncle, or cousins he writes about.
