I am researching the family of Peter Solan/Solon and Hannah Peebles of
Barstone,
Dalry, Ayr. Their daughter Annie gave birth to a son named Peter Hislop
Solan
(Sollachan) 28 Dec 1880. This was an illegitimate birth. Young Peter
appears on
the 1881 Dalry census with his mother and grandparents. My questions are:
1) How
do I find out who the father of this child is? 2) Were there records kept
on paternity of
illegitimate children in 1880's Scotland? My guess is the father is a
HYSLOP/HISLOP.
