Hello fellow-searchers
My 3 x ggf, John CORNELIUS, was alive and well in 1841 when the
Census was taken. He was listed as 65 (ie between 65-69), a common labourer,
living in Green Street, Saltcoats and born in Ireland.
In the 1851 Census his wife, Ann (ne BRODIE), was described as
a widow and living at Drakenyre Street in nearby Ardrossan, next-door to a
married daughter.
I have not been able to locate the burial of John, but it seems
likely that he died at Saltcoats, or one of the nearby villages (towns?) of
Stevenston or Ardrossan. Years ago something led me to believe that he was
still alive in 1846, but I can't now recall (nor can I find a record of)
what it was!
I had the PRs in many years ago and failed to find his burial
there, but I was fairly new at research then and may not have searched
carefully enough.
I would be grateful for any help.
Cheers.
