Hello Margaret
The following description about Bargany is taken from Groom's gazetteer
printed in the late 1890's
BARGANY An estate and mansion in Dailly parish on the left bank of Girvan
Water. 4 and a quarter miles NE of Girvan. The property of the Earl of Stair
through his Countess, a daughter of Due de Coigny, and a grand-daughter of
Sir Hew Dalrymple-Hamilton Bart. Bargany will pass to the earl's second
son. It's rental is about 12,000, and 30,000 has been expended on
permanent improvements. I have the complete set of Groom's if anyone should
want to know a little about a specific, town or village.
Regards
Mary
