John Cameron married Margaret Murdoch 16 June, 1854 at High Corton.

Two questions:

Can anyone tell me about High Corton? Is (was) it a village, or farm
or both?

Although John and Margaret's marriage certificate gives the date as 4
June 1854 stating that they were married, can I assume that the 4 June
is the date of Banns and that the certificate would only have been
filled in after the marriage on 16 June, but giving the date of Banns
rather than the actual marriage date? Would this be normal?
