I am looking for my great-grandfather, Frank JAZMINSKI (spelling?), born Dec.
3, 1865. Family stories say he changed his name on board the boat to Frank
JUST to "Americanize". He is definitely from Austria. I have been told Vienna of
which I am not sure. His parents are of German decent, the name sounds Polish
or possibly Russian.
I do have documents saying He arrived in New York on April 3, 1890, from
Austria.
He was employed as a machinist by Otis Elevator in Yonkers, N.Y. His future
wife, Albertine KIMPFLIN (Alsace-Lorraine, France) was employed by the Otis
family as a cook. The Otis family introduced them. My gr. grandmother spoke
German due to German occupation in Alsace.
Any information at all would be greatly appreciated.
Trish
