BTW: there are lots of Gregors in Austria. See phone directory:

but keep in mind that it's not an unusual surname -- so there might no link at
all.

There is, for example, a CSENGOD in today's Hungary and a ZUNGUT in Russia.

The Stary/Nowy suggests a Slav language -- which would possibly exclude
Hungary (unless somewhere on the Slovak border).
