Question: (sorry another newbie one)

When I started my research I came across a 1942 document that details
my Grandfathers origins, it details his family line with birth dates
and names of his parents etc. All nicely 'sealed' by the regime of the
time. I always thought this has to have been also stored somewhere and
not all of it lost during the war. Am I thinking of documents that are
part of the:

Die Ahnenstammkartei Microfilm Collection

the so called Leipzig film collection refered to at:

if so, what happened to the documents that cover present day Austria?
Would they also be available somewhere?
