Hi Everybody,

I'm new to this list and thought I would post my information for the
first time.

My gr grandmother was Theresa Reitbauer born September 22, 1894 in Gaas.
I am told that Gaas is in Austria, and now called Eberau. It used to
belong to Hungary, and its Hungarian name was Pinkakertes (in Vas
county). It sits in the Austrian province of Burgenland smack on the
Hungarian border (almost straight east of St. Michael (Burgenland) and
SSW of Szombathely (Hungary). I do not know Theresa's parents name as
of yet, but her siblings were Anton Reitbauer b. December 8, 1901; Mary
Reitbauer b. october 5, 1905; John Reitbauer b. December 1919?; and
another brother Joseph Reitbauer no date. Joseph supposedly died
relatively young in Gaas. All the rest of the siblings made their way
to the United States.

I would very much like to hear from anyone searching the same name.
Also, any ideas or help as to how I go about researching this family in
Austria would be most helpful.
