There was also Platina Railway siding in Victoria in a similar time
frame. It was on the Walhalla to Moe line, and took its name from the
Platinum found there. Today it is just an indentation in the hill,
with a modern plaque giving its history. It reads:
This plaque marks the site of the Platina Railway Station which opened
in 1911 and served the township of Coopers Creek. This section of the
line closed to Erica in 1952. Dept. Conservation & Environment /
Walhalla Heritage League.
Now if anyone on the list has families that were at this Coopers
Creek, I would love to hear from them.
