I have a similar one. Arriving on the "Stamboul" in 1858 is my 3rd
great grandparents Thomas and Ann WILLIS. The name Ann is written at
least twice on the list. Their daughter, Ann (my 2nd great grandmother)
and siblings are also aboard. Trouble is, Ann (the elder) never appears
again and all I can find is a Margaret Willis who dies in 1904
Details: Margaret WILLIS, female, aged 82 years, widow of Thomas WILLIS,
of Carrieton, cause: Bronchitis, heart failure, old age, at Cudmores
Hill, Davenport, informant: T or J WILLIS, son of Carrieton
The Davenport bit fits as her daughter was living in Port Augusta (where
I am assuming Davenport is).
Can I assume that it was actually Margaret who was on the Stamboul?
Does anyone have easy access to the Adelaide Hospital Admission
register? I know when I was in Adelaide a few years ago I looked it up
and there was a Margaret WILLIS there who might have fitted the bill.
Not sure what the exact details were - at the time I didn't realise that
maybe I should have been looking for a Margaret!
Regards
Shelley

Doug,
I know how you feel, I have a Samuel Collins married to a Mary Ellery,
the
only thing is that recently I have found out that Mary is possibly
Elizabeth
and Samuel although he states on his marriage certificate he was born in
the
UK, may in fact have been born in Burra. But I am yet to prove any of
this
as I cant find any records to corroborate it.
