Hi everyone,
I have recently returned from South Australia, where I attended a conference
for work, and then spent a week travelling around, researching my POLLARD
ancestors. I had a ball, and met some wonderful people. Its great to be able
to put faces to some of the people on the list.

The trip helped me to clear up some family stories, which proved to be correct,
much to my surprise, and I was able to confirm that William Henry POLLARD
(born circa 1846) was indeed the son of William POLLARD and Caroline GEORGE!
Now that I am home again, I have been going through my 'finds' and have come
up with a few more things I would like to sort out.
I am hoping that some might be in a position to help.

1.William POLLARD (senior) seems to have arrived in SA in 1847 (according
to his death cert). Is it possible to see if there is a record of him arriving
in SA in that year, or close to it. I am looking for him arriving alone,
or with a wife, Caroline, and one son, maybe two.

2.If he arrived alone, which is what I am now thinking, then it is possible
that his wife, Caroline POLLARD arrived by 1852 with one son, William, and
perhaps another son.

3.Is there an 1851 census for SA? If so, could some-one see if they were
living in Adelaide, perhaps Grenfell St; there would be William (senior)
wife Caroline and son, William, and perhaps another son...
Or if Caroline isnt in SA by then, there would be William senior on his own...
Is there an 1861 census? They would be in Angaston by then.

4. William Henry POLLARD (the younger) married Mary Anne Carmichael in 1877
in the Lutheran Church, Rosenthal. A lister looked this up for me a couple
of years ago, so there must be a marriage cert somewhere that is accessible,...
I am hoping to find the names of the witnesses.

5. William Henry POLLARD and Mary Ann (nee Carmaichael) had a son, Nelson
in 1877, born at Kersbrook. Is any-one able to view the birth record ato
see the details on it?

6. Their son, Samuel, was born in 1878 in Kersbrook, If any one has access
to the records, I am hoping to get the details from that one too,.

7. Would anyone know if it is possible to find out when they bought the property
they owned in Angaston? I visited the council in Angaston, and their records
went back to the late 1860's, which showed that William POLLARD owned 14
acres there. In 1914-15, the property changes out of his daughter's name
after he had died.

I know I have asked a lot, but I would be grateful for any help any one can
offer.
I am happy to help with Tasmanian records, if I am able.
thanks
Louise Leslie
