Anne,
Lentara Childrens homes was run by the Methodist Church (Adelaide Central
Mission) and was located in Adelaide St Magill off Penfolds rd.
Was known as Lentara Magill Childrens home or commonly just called "Lentara"
A few of my school friends were children from that home.
Magill Old Folks Home and the four wards of the Royal Adelaide Hospital,
Magill Extension was located in Church Rd., Magill at the top end, just
below the Boys Reformatory on Glen Stuart rd.
The RAH wards were the 4 lower (geographically) wards, just on left as one
went through the Home gates.
Definitely not the same places.
My father was Superintendent of Magill Old Folks Home in the 1950's. My
spouse also worked there in 1950's. Magill Old folks Home was run by the C W
& P R (Childrens Welfare and Public Relief)department of the state
Government.
The 4 RAH wards, (which were also originally part of the Old Folks Home
Magill), were under control of RAH in city.
Most of the wards were named after battles or locations or Officers of the
WW1.
Lots of the "blokes" chewed "chewing OR Plug tobacco" and I remember the
tins along all walkways of the wards that had a sign on the post adjacent,
which read " Spit only in tins provided".
regards
Freda
