Greetings all. Whilst at the S.A. State Library I had a quick look at the Departure Card Indexes. The first one was the Hodge Index. Can SKS tell me the names of the other Departure Card Inexes in that same row.

I just took a peek - looking for my elusive Charles Oaty (born in 1810) who was a publican betw. 1846 and 1849 then disappeared off the face of the earth. He was not in the Hodge Departures, but there he was in the set of drawers (hency my need for the Index name).
I mean - we think it was he. The card says G.Oaty, as does the SA Register - both of who report this G. Oaty left Adelaide on board the JOSEPH ALBINO heading for California.
then yesterday, I visited my local LDS Family Centre and found two references for Charles Oaty, one of which (the 1850 Census forCalaveras, California) matches my data.
Isn't it marvellous when we find another piece of our puzzle. Now I just need the name of that Indes, then find where he died (he must be dead by now *g*).

Cheers from Di Cummings of Melbourne
