Hi All,

For starters I am trying to find the birth of my Great Grandfather Reuben SMITH and his marriage to my Great Grandmother Annie BEECROFT who was formerly married to Robert FERRES.

Reuben was born c1833 at Hindmarsh, South Aust. I have his death certificate that says his father was John Smith a farmer and mother Unknown.

Reuben and Annie were married in Kadina SA c 1877

Reuben and Annie both died in Western Australia. Reuben died in 1907 and his death certificate states he had 5 living children namely Mary aged 44, Harriet aged 42, Thomas aged 40, Annie aged 34 and Dora (my grandmother) aged 26 and 1 dec male and 1 dec female.

Annie died in 1906 and her death certificate states she had Elizabeth aged 40 and 1 dec male and 1 dec female by her previous marriage and from her second marriage Dora Isabella 24 and 1 dec female.

So where did all Reubens children come from? Was Reuben married twice as well? Given that his oldest living child is 44, I would have to assume that if he was previously married then it would have been c 1863. To whom? Why does one question always lead to two more?

Well I have succeeded nicely in confusing myself here but I am sure someone out there will make heads or tails of it and be able to help me.
