Dear Listers,

A word of warning - unfortunately you can't always rely on your back ups as they do fail. I progressed from backing up on discs to rewritable CD's (thinking I was very clever) only to find that these can also fail after a few rewrites. I lost the lot after 10 years of research. The only bonus was that having kept every single piece of paper I had collected over the years, I could start again and in fact gleaned more information from it all the second time around.

Lesson here - don't use rewritable CD's. I now use ordinary CD's and don't worry about the expense.
