Hi Lynn,
You have been a geat help to me in the past, and I am wondering if it
would be too much trouble to look for a 1: William MARTIN baptised 10
February 1833 in Stithians, Cornwall. He emigrated to Australia on
the "Sarah" which landed in Sydney in 1850, with him were his widowed
mother, Elizabeth MARTIN (ms PEARCE) and sister Caroline MARTIN (my g
grandmother) and brother Harry, (one time Mayor of Moonta 1888-9)
Also Elizabeth MARTIN who would have been 29 years (when she emigrated)
She married a Thomas RODDA in 1851
Through this wonderful list I have found a "MARTIN Cousin" who has
written a book about my MARTIN family of Stithians, Cornwall.
2: He does not have any information about Elizabeth ms MARTIN except
the marriage to Thomas RODDA. in 1851 at Burra and that she died in 1899
in Green Plains, South Australia. I would like to know if she had
any children?.
Elizabeth MARTIN ( the Mother) died in Willunga where another son
founded the "The Martin Slate Quarry" - Thomas. I don't know if
William MARTIN brother ever worked for him.
Another brother John MARTIN was a School Teacher and founder of
Pulterney St. Grammar School, Adelaide.
I would like more details of Elizabeth RODDA (ms MARTIN) if it was
possible, and if there is any trace of William MARTIN in South
Australia.
Many Thanks Take Care, Janet
