Hi Sheelagh,
I see that you have already had a response that there is a Butcher Gap near
Saddleworth. There is also a "Butchers Gap" near Kingston, in the South
East of SA. It is not a town, but only a rural district. I don't know of
any of the history of the area, or where it got it's name, but I may be able
to find out for you, if you are interested? Hope you can determine which
one is more likely to be the appropriate one for you?
