Hi All,

I am new to the list and this is my first question.

Family tradition has it that my wife's gg-Gramdparents Thomas Richard
MEREDITH and Emily (nee SUMMERS) where missionaries in China in the late
1840s and early 1850s and that their daughter Elizabeth Merrinor was born on
board ship on December 22nd 1852 in Hong Kong harbour on their way out to
South Australia.

We are trying to establish when they arrived in South Australia and on what
ship. I have checked the list of vessels arriving in Australian Ports and
can not find any vessel from Hong Kong in 1853 to 1869. We know that
Elizabeth was here in 1869 as she married John Tenby NEWTON a soldier in
Adeliade on November 22nd 1869.

There is one vessel listed arriving from Singapore and I wonder if this
originated from Hong Kong.

Any suggestions as to where we might go from here would be appreciated also
contact from anybody with a connection would be welcomed.

Regards,
Markus
