I am the g-g-g-grandaughter of Mary TORRENS who arrived in Adelaide on the 'Trusty' in 1838. She died in November 1909 and had ten children, the eldest of whom was Elizabeth, my g-g-grandmother. Mary married James HINCH in Adelaide in 1841 and Elizabeth would have been born around 1843. I have found records of four HINCH children from 1845 onwards but not Eliz. In 1856, HINCH must have died and Mary, whilst possibly pregnant to him, remarried a Robert McBURNIE and had five more children, including another Elizabeth in 1864. I have not been able to find any record of the James HINCH death and the last mention I could find was in an 1851 newpaper when he was at Burra and a witness to an assault.
I have only recently begun to trace my ancestors and would be grateful to anyone who can assist me. I would also like to hear from any other descendants of Mary.
Thanks,
Wendy (Milne) Fensom
nks,
