Hi, greetings from freezing Victoria, it is SOOOOOOOO COLD!!
"Paradise of Dissent" by Douglas Pike - does it live on anyone's book shelf?
I understand it has info on the Freemasons Lodge of Adelaide in the 1830s
and that it not only has lots of info, but a good index of names.
Definately NOT available here - does any kind lister have a copy and would
they be prepared to seek my COURTOY/CORTIS /JERKINS menfolk in it please?
My lot arrived 1837 so imagine they would be amongst the first members if
they did belong, although William COURTOY/JERKINS did not arrive until 1840
so perhaps he was the first to join.
I dont know, it is a hunch, and also a very very strong family tradition to
belong, my grandfather a Grand Master in his tuxedo and sash off to "lodge"
meetings quite a familiar sight when I was a kid.
Judy who is desperate to finish this research and reclaim her life, hence
the constancy of enquiry
