Hi Lorraine this is not an answer to you question but
I have a book
Street Names of Mareeba Nth. Qld.
A great little book that tells the history of the names of the streets
written by you I expect?
I also tried to find out where the name came from but you did not say this
in your book?
My family come form the area Swan street was named after a father of one of
my rellies and my dad was born there ect.
If you find out the answer about the name I would most certainly like to
know what Mareeba means also ?
Sincerely
Jill Morley
