For the month of December 2001, the index in which free searches are
offered (subject to certain conditions) is the Index to Transmission of
Real Estate by Death, Queensland, 1878-1889.

This index lists over 7000 names (deceased persons and claimants) from
Transmission of Real Estate by Death notices in the Queensland Government
Gazette 1878-1889. Many property owners and claimants were residents of
other States and other countries. In some cases the notice appeared many
years after the death occurred. There may be a Transmission by Death
notice even if there is not a will at Qld State Archives.
