Dear Gaye
I have a distant connection to this family. A Euphemia BIRRELL daughter off
James and Ellen BIRRELL married my ancestors brother David LAING 1866 in
Newcastle. Euphemia' father James was the first Mayor off Plattsburg. He was
a publican and a magistrate. He died 12/1/1893 at Euphemia's residence in
Clarke St Plattsburg in his 82 year and 22 grandsons followed the remains.
(Newcastle Morning Herald).
I think this is your James BIRRELL. Sorry that is all I know.
