ORANGE BLOSSOMS.
GREAVES - BUELL
From an American paper we copy the following extracts concerning the
marriage of an old Croydon boy, Mr J. S. Greaves:-
The home of Mrs P. A. Buell, in Oakland (San Francisco) was the scene of a
beautiful wedding recently when Miss Amy Buell became the bride of James
Stewart Greaves second son of Mrs Annie Greaves, an old resident of Croydon,
North Queensland. Rev. E. P. Dennett of Central Methodist Church, Stockton
read the impressive service in the presence of about 50 friends and
relatives.
The bride is the daughter of the late P. A. Buell one of Stockton's
capitalists, and Mrs Buell who has made her home in oakland for the past few
years. She is a charming girl, a graduate of the local high school and Mills
College.
Among the many handsome gifts were three chests of silver.
Mr and Mrs J. S. Greaves sailed from San Francisco for Eastern Siberia,
where Mr Greaves has accepted the superintendency of the Guggenheim power
plant on the Amoor River. Mr and Mrs Greaves will be away for three years.
The power plant which Mr Greaves will handle for the Guggenheim company
supplies power for gold dredgers.

OBITUARY_ Mr Chas. MASLIN
News was received by telegram on Friday last of the death of Mr Charles
MASLIN a one-time well known Croydonite.
A further telegram stated that he was buried in the Toowong cemetery of
Friday afternoon last, a number of ex-Croydonites attending the funeral. The
deceased died in the Brisbane General Hospital the previous night having
been suffering for several weeks from lead poisoning.
Deceased was a very old resident of the goldfield and took a prominent part
in its public life, having been an alderman and Mayor of the town, and a
prominent free-mason. He was a painter by trade and would be about 46 years
of age. He left here about 3 years ago for Brisbane where his wife and one
daughter reside. The news of his death will be received with regret by many
old Gulf hands.
Cheers, Marilyn.
