Announcing a new Web page:

'Index of the Month' - http://www.st.net.au/~judyweb/lookups.html

There will be a different index each month (usually relating to Queensland
sources). Searches will be conducted free of charge by Judy Webster
(professional genealogist) subject to certain conditions: limit of ONE
request per enquirer; no requests for one-name searches - only for one
specific person; offer is valid only during the month specified; forms
which are completed incorrectly will be ignored; you may have to wait up
to four weeks for a reply; source reference only will be supplied -
inspection of original document is not included.

Qld Supreme Court (Southern District) Index to Wills, 1890-1919

In addition to the original will and grant of probate, Queensland probate
files may include an inventory of property, and/or various affidavits
containing useful information (such as names, addresses and occupations of
beneficiaries and their spouses). From about the late 1890s onward they
also usually contain a death certificate. Only about 5% of people left
wills which needed to go through the Supreme Court, but it is always worth
checking. Note: the index to Southern District wills 1890-1919 does not
include files where the Public Curator was executor. For these you would
need to search a separate series of records.
