Thank you, Jeri. He was one of those guys who claimed "the immigration
people changed the family name when they came to the US". The first census I
found him in was 1880 as Christie. After that, it was Christy. One of his
son's was Crista, so I don't know what it would have been before 1880
census. Different years census showed him and his parents being born several
different states and Germany and I personally don't know what to think about
his parentage or his veteran status, anymore.
