You know, I've started several lists and never had a problem, but mine were
for geographical areas and names and such that didn't exist already. There
are places, though, you can share your work other than rootsweb. You might
want to check out www.usgenweb.com they are a great group and I've never had
anything but good come of any research or sharing. It's done by state, then
county with each county having an administrator. It's also great for
research too! In fact, I rarely use rootsweb much any more, just for a few
select groups and a big reason for that is mostly admins who are like ya'll
are describing here. You're afraid to ask a question for fear of them
coming down on you, either calling you an idiot for not knowing how to
research or how to write an email/post, or for having initials or having a
name - it's just crazy in some lists! But, then you've got those people who
join in with the list admin and back them up! Control freaks! Oh, well,
that's my thoughts!

Good luck to everyone, oh, and don't forget Yahoo has great groups and group
space too! And, they have a lot more available than rootsweb, they've got
home pages where you can store photos, urls, files, have live chats, just
lots of things, and be in a public directory if you like also so others can
find you! Just some thoughts.......... Guess I'll get bumped after this,
but we can all meet at Yahoo! ;o)
