Subject: YOUNG genealogy
My grandmother was Cora May YOUNG (1882 NE- 1947 OK) married #1 James E.A.
KIRK in Columbus, KS
Children living to adulthood: Maude, Roy, Frank, Joseph Alfred, Gertrude,
Leonard Alphonso, & Dale, all now deceased; all born in Cherokee Co., KS
Married #2 Gene Warner
Her parents: Joseph R. YOUNG (~1847 MO) + Phebe Jane HURST (1854 IA)
Children: William (1871), George Edward (1872),
Barnard (1880), Cora May (1882), Adah (1884), and Aley(1888) All born in NE
except Barney MO.
Alphonso YOUNG (1805 TN) + Nancy Robinson (1806 TN)
Big name in Mormon Movement Had one son Joseph
all I know about.
Nothing known about his wife
John YOUNG
William YOUNG
George W. YOUNG was listed as Cora May's father on her death certificate.
His name was in my mother's address book as living in Arkadelphia, AR. An
Aunt (Dale Kirk's wife) had a William A. listed in her address book as
living in Giltner, NE
VA > TN > IL > MO > IA > NE > KS > OK > AR > MO; some may have migrated
south to AL > AR
Many of them were living in Osage County, Skiatook, OK in the early 1920's.
Tales go that Cora May was part Cherokee Indian. I've been trying to prove
that, but haven't as yet...though I think there may be some truth to it. My
dad Frank Kirk always said they were Scot IRish.
