Has anyone ever ran across an old newspaper clipping about a duel in the mid
or early 1850s or late 1840s of a Joe Waldrop (Joseph Ryan Waldrop) in the
DeSoto/Tate County? Maybe there has been an oral story in the area and
among friends, families and Church members. His papa was a member of the
Primitive Baptist Church of Georgia and Mississippi. They lived in Georgia
between 1820s and late 1830s.

Joe Waldrop was the son of Rev. Green Berry Waldrop of DeSoto, Mississipi.

Brother of McDonald, Henry Low Waldrop and also, Nancy Caroline Waldrop

who married Seaborn Higgingbotham.

Daughter--Georgia Ann Waldrop, who married Thornton

Son....Stephen Franklin Waldrop

First wife.....Nancy Heard(DeSoto/Tate County. MS one son and one daughter)

Second wife........ Mid 1850s --Victoria K. Thomas(Martagorda , Texas, one
son)

Third wife......... (1867).Sarah Baxter (My gr grandmother) Escatawpa, Al.
two sons)

Also, early 1850s married to Sara Catherine Alexander, Arkansas, no children

Joe Waldrop...State Rep. of Washington County, Alabama 1868-1870. Ambushed
and
killed August 1870. He was a minister, physician, KKK, Ret. Merchant and
