Dear Historic Preservationists:

This message is to update you on the status of HB2263, a bill that would
help keep our endangered cemeteries from desecration. Unfortunately, we are
running out of time in the legislature. Because of the fierce opposition
that our group and Representative (Daryl Pace) have gotten, we have amended
the bill considerably. I think we were a little too ambitious, but we do
plan on coming back next session and trying for some of the things we got
cut this time. But first things first.....This Friday, April 4th our bill
will be up for a vote with the City, County and Local Affairs Committee in
the House. The committee meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m. If you can make
it, we could use all the support we can get.

As soon it is through the committee (keep your fingers crossed), then it
will go to the full house for a vote. At this time, it is important to
contact your LOCAL legislators, and tell them that you want them to vote for
it. If they have email, send them an email. You can find out their address
by going to: http://www.arkleg.state.ar.us, and then at the top click on the
Representative link, and they are in alphabetical order. Many have email,
but if they don't (or even if they do), call them and leave a message
(501)682-6211.

After we get through the House, then it will go to the Senate Committee on
City, County & Local Affairs. The names of the committee members are listed
below, and then their email. Again you can cut and paste and send them an
email. If you need to, you can call them at: (501)682-2902 to leave a
message. It is not too early to be contacting them, since we are running out
of time, things will go really fast. Also, please contact your LOCAL
Senators, so when it gets to the Senate Floor.
