ARTHUR, HENRY WW I.
Looking for military or pension records for Henry Arthur
DOB March 5, 1882, DOD September 13, 1920. Born in Iowa, probably
Decatur, County.
Died in Boone County, Arkansas. On his headstone it says he was in
MO VOL Machine-gun, CO 140th Infantry. His death certificate states he died
from lung complications caused from being gassed in W.W.I.
I think he was on a pension at his death and his parents received it after
his death. His death certificate says he was divorced. Don't know who he was
married to, or if he had children. He was my grandfather's brother. Trying to
get all the info I can on all the siblings. All the relatives died before I
was born, so it's been like pulling hen's teeth to track anyone down.
Parent's names were James Nathaniel Arthur, DOB July 30, 1857, in Indiana,
DOD January 16, 1939, and Phoebe Leviney Arthur DOB July 22, 1849, in
Indiana, DOD November 30, 1938. They both died in Boone County, Arkansas.
I don't know if he enlisted in Missouri or Arkansas. I can't find this
infantry in the WW I records.
Maybe I am looking in the wrong place.
If someone out there has any suggestions on how to find him, it would be
GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks, Jan in Indiana
