Subject: [ARKANSAS] Find the Grave of Reuben Ramsey-CW Vet
Date: Sat, 29 Jul 2000 20:07:18 -0700
After several years and the valuable help of the United Daughters of
the Confederacy in OREGON, no less.. the grave of grgrandfather,
Wm P STONE is found and a suitable stone monument is ready to place
on the previously unmarked site. He will have a gray clad honor guard,
appropriate flags and a bugler. Descendants from several states will
assemble there on that pretty hillside near the Columbia River and in
sight of Mount Hood. (who can believe the power of this web of kindly
people)
REUBEN RAMSEY, former pvt. 93rd PA Inf., later blacksmith of Stuttgart,
Arkansas Co, AR, died in Oct. 1904 according to information provided to
me. I have looked for well over 2 years, often with the help of more good,
kindly people in the area. Like the grgrandfather above, he was twice
wounded, but survived the war. He was 62 when he died. I truly believe
that he is in a cemetery in the area of Stuttgart or Humphrey (as a possi-
ble alternative), probably unmarked, and I would like to do no less for
his memory . Suggestions...places to write, places to look , people to
contact ... any such would be appreciated. Don't worry about me having
already done a particular thing ... maybe I overlooked it. : )
