Taken from the Clay County Courier, Corning, Arkansas in Corning, Arkansas.
"Christmas Past.........1890".

Married on thrusday evening, December 13, 1888, at the residence of the
bride's father, Dr. G.W. SIMMONS at Boydsville, Arkansa, Mr. W.E. SPENCE,
clerk of Clay county, to Miss Mary SIMMONS. Reverend F.R. NOE officiated. A
large number of friends of the contracting parties were present and after the
ceremony, partook heartily of the generous repast furnished for the occasion.
The costumes worn by the bride and groom and by the guests were elegant and
all were happy and enjoyed the occasion greatly. After a late hour, the
guests replete with enjoyment, retired to their respective homes. We extend
the happy pair our heartfelt congratulations.

The ice outside the sea wall at Odessa, Russia, is seven feet thick and
extends ten miles out to sea.

The ladies met at Captain C.R. BELOATE's residence on the 19th and elected
officers and appointed committees to arrange the Christmas tree to be given
at the Court House on Christmas Eve.

Pat MARTIN keeps the celebrated N.and S. 10 cent cigars. Best in the world!

Oranges and candy in immense quantities and endless varieties for Christmas,
at E.C. BARNHILL's. Just look what a lot!!

Hard times seem to be our lot this Winter. All provisions are dear and the
home output of hogs, scarce. This has been an off-year for cholera among hogs
and it seems strange that our farmers raised so few.
