Hi, Wanda, you gave me several bits of information that I had not received
from anyone else, and I really appreciate it. Although I really had no
intention of getting this far into the Shackelford and Bonner lines, it has
been interesting. I was not sure of the spelling of Mr. Hardin's name
(Errett), since I saw it listed as Evrett at times. Errett IS the correct
spelling? I'm particularly interested in the Mendenhall and Shultz surnames.
Pam sent me everything on Shultz from Happenings in Okolona and Antoine
Township and said there was nothing on Mendenhall. If you have other
resources and wouldn't mind checking on those two names, I'd surely
appreciate your help. Also, was Lilla Riley the same person as Louella Riley
Spencer?
My main reason for delving into these side lines was my hope that it would
help me find some leads on my Shultz line. Andrew Shultz was the son of
William Joseph "Bill" Shultz who absolutely disappeared on me after 1870.
His wife died, and he either farmed all of his children out with other
families (mostly Billingsley relatives) or abandoned them and dropped out of
sight. His youngest child was Josephine, born in 1879, and I believe his
wife died in childbirth. All of the children were scattered with other
families in 1880.
Kamille, I don't think I've seen any indication of a marriage for Clyde
Shackelford or Clifton Shultz. Both were living in Phoenix, AZ at one time.
Now, to which Shackelford family did Clifton belong. I see several
references to him and his children.
Before I forget, I apologize for sending this through the list again, but I'm
hoping someone else will be familiar with the Shultz name. Eva Shultz lived
in Okolona until her marriage to Ernest Perry; then, she moved to Gurdon. As
far as I know, she lived in Gurdon the rest of her life, working at a bank.
I think she advanced to a bank manager/president, but am not sure of that
point.
Pam, good to hear from you again, and the copies you sent me long again from
the Okolona book have really helped me tie some things together. I think of
you every time I see something there about the Tillman family.
Jodie, I started to reply to your letter, thinking I had left it in my OLD
MAIL for a later reply. I evidently deleted it in error, and don't find your
address in my address book. I was also POSITIVE that I'd printed out your
email and probably deleted the note since I'd printed it out. BUT, I don't
find it with the others. Anyway, send me a note, and I'll get back with you.
Thanks, again, to all of you for your help.
Earlene
