There is a little known treasure trove of info in the town of Washington,
Arkansas. Near Hope..right off the interstate..They have a "Soutwest" center
located in the old school building (quite large, really!). I found a lot of
info about my family in Arkansas and a family book which I consider
priceless. It is a neat lil town that has been restored and has a lot of
neat places, tho in a small town...check it out, you won't be sorry...
Thanx

Subject: [AR-SURNAMES] research

Hi,

I am going to Arkansas to research my Thorn family. My family was in
Arkansas from about 1820 something until about 1845 or so.

I know that Colonel Thorn was in the Arkansas Militia. I know that he had a
brother who lived in Hot Springs. I know his father died in Arkansas.

The question is.... Can anyone give me any research tips, hints, or
suggestions. This is my first research trip so I am a little green.

Thanks for your time,
Chriss
