Subject: [AR-SURNAMES] More about Lillie Ann DISNEY FINE

Wow! I got such a wonderful bunch of answers and advice, I just had to
share. I heard from a FINE researcher, who confirmed that Lillie DISNEY
married 27 Jan 1909 James LeGrand FINE (2 Feb 1883 - 20 Oct 1952
Crawford County, AR). I'm hoping to find a marriage record to confirm
this. Kaye says, "They had at least 3 children and I have them in a 1920
census in Van Buren, Crawford County, AR." I located this entry in the
census, and it is an awful page in the Ancestry images! Taped together,
and altogether dreadful. But that does give me hope that some of these
children are still alive somewhere.
The wonderful Barbara advised me, among other tactics, to do a Google
search for "lilly fine". Wow is all I can say, since I hadn't done this
yet, and look what I found:
http://www.van-buren.com/history.html
She is mentioned right at the top of this wonderful page about the
history of Van Buren:
"Jame Monroe was the newly elected president of the United States and
Arkansas was still a district of the territory of Missouri when David
Boyd, first white man set foot on the future town site of Van Buren.
"David Boyd was a log raiser and his arrival in 1818 was the first
recorded event in the town's history. He lived until 1885. He has a
living granddaughter, Mrs. Lillie Fine, whose mother was Lydia Ann Boyd
Disney, the daughter of David Boyd.
"The first white settler was Thomas Martin who arrived shortly after
David Boyd. Martin was helped by Boyd to build his log house. Thomas
Martin claimed squatters rights to the land, and a few people gathered
around Martin and the place became a boat landing and a small
settlement." <snip>
Isn't that wonderful!? Friday I heard of the existance of these
daughters of my gggrandfather, and I already know SO much, at least
about Lillie. When I think that I could have met her, before her death
in 1981, if I had only known she existed.......
Lillie Ann DISNEY, 3 Sep l885 - 1 Jul l981
Bertha D. Disney, 19 Nov l887 - 15 Jan l944
Daughters of William Briggs DISNEY and Lydia BOYD SUTTON who married
about 1884, presumably in Crawford Co., although I've not found a
marriage record so far.
Lillie's husband, James LeGrand FINE was buried at Gracelawn Cemetery,
Crawford County, AR. (He died 1952) I wonder if she lies beside him?
By the way, I was also advised to search World Connect, but I got no
results for Lillie Fine. I did, however, find her mother, Lydia BOYD
SUTTON DISNEY, here:
