Subject: [AR-SAWMILLS] Swartz lumber Co.

For awhile in Ouachita Co. Arkansas ca 1900 there was a Swartz lumber Co. My paternal line was Swartz but cannot connect with this man even though my ancestors came from Ouachita Co. since about 1880 and my grandfather said he was born in Arkansas in 1868. Later this lumber co. moved to Swartz, Louisiana. The post master there wrote me it had just been a company town until operations ceased in the early 1900s. Mr. Swartz died in South Louisiana. He was quite a leading light in his community according to his obituary. There was a mention of it in an article in a genealogy quarterly on the saw mills in Ouachita Co. a couple years ago.
