The Arkansas Gazette is microfilmed back to sometime in the 1830's. I don't
think the Arkansas Democrat goes quite that far, but the True Democrat is
pretty close to that time period. The state papers can be accessed at the
Little Rock Library, but the county papers are microfilmed and housed at the
History Commission. Many counties in the state are fortunate in that their
papers go back into the 1800s. Personally, I LOVE newspaper research.
