At leasat they knew his name. Have you heard the story of "old Mike" who
died in Prescott in 1911 (I think that's the year) and was never claimed?
And they never found his last name. And he wasnt' buried for 64 years....
hmmmm. Check out the Nevada County website to have a look at Mike, long
after his death, posed beside a funeral home car.

Van Buren Press-Argus
October 1, 1915
HIS WANDERINGS ENDED
A F Larkin, the aged white man who was brought to Van Buren early in August,
at which time it was believed that he was demented, but later developed that
he was sick, died in the county jail at 6:30. The remains were turned over
to Coroner Hollenbeck, who had them interred in the Gill Cemetery this
afternoon.
Sheriff Branson made an effort to find some of the man’s relatives, but
without success. He had only been in the county a few weeks, but his
condition was such as he cold not be turned out and was kept there until his
death this morning. Larkin was a homeless wanderer and drifted into Crawford
County during the peach picking season.
