Linda,
Many of the old newspapers of AR have been microfilmed and can be read
at the
Arkansas History Commission & State Archives
1 Capitol Mall
Little Rock AR 72201
or at
Butler Center
Central Library
100 Rock Street
Little Rock AR 72201
Public libraries frequently also have local or regional newspapers among
their holdings.
These publications can be read in the buildings where they are housed.
Also, you can go to the nearest Branch Family History Library of the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon) and request them to
order for you the film you want by InterLibrary Loan. Materials for
loan include many newspapers. You can read the film on a reader at the
branch library. Cost is minimal, usually about $2 per spool of film shipped.
Many public libraries provide the same service.
You can inquire about the specific newspaper you are interested in at
the Arkansas History Commission & State Archives by telephone or better,
by US Postal Service. For a reasonable fee, they can send you a list of
newspapers which have been published in the Murfreesboro/Pike County
area. The newspaper currently published there might do the same thing
for you. Newspaper people are generally as accommodating as
circumstances will allow.
Finally, I believe I noticed the History Commission published such a
list as you are seeking online earlier this year. Check it out at

Best wishes,
Ed
