I missed or did not read the original post (computer down and I'm accessing new e-mails from my husband's) so this may not help. Name of physician? Since Baylor, Texas was mentioned I suspect he may have had connection with Baylor College, perhaps before the Baylor College of Medicine was here in Houston.

In earlier times it was accepted that if anyone said "at Baylor" everyone knew what and where, so I would not be surprised if some source said "Baylor, Texas."

In any case, the McGovern Historical Collection has info on early to now physicians in Texas.
Also online , try for Mrs. S. C. Red's The Medicine Man in Texas ... an index as well as the book ... you may find something there.
