Mary,
Are these Pittsylvania County records in a private collection, or are they
in a public repository? Are they all together, or have you collected this
information from your ancestor from various lists of county records? Thanks.

Debbie-
I'm sure every record can be different in the information that is available
but I have an ancestor who made coffins in Pittsylvania, Virginia in the mid
1800s. He was a wheelwright and must have made coffins on the side. In
some of the records he left there is mention of coffins made for specific
families, whether it was for a child or adult, and a date when the coffin
was made. For some researchers, this might be the only information they
have for undocumented children. This is also a great source to place a
family, in an area, in a specific time, and some good social and economic
information. I think such records could yield great information.
