Subject: Estates Large Enough for Guardianship
Date: Thu, 3 Feb 2005 14:22:02 -0800 (PST)

Although it is true that smaller estates did
not often require filing for guardianship, I have
seen one case from the 1930s where a man had to
file for guardianship of his minor children after
his wife died, even though the family was very
poor and any monetary amount involved was very
small.
So it may be worth checking indexes (at
least in Massachusetts, these indexes can be
checked quite quickly and simply, unless dealing
with very common names in large cities, such as
John Smith of Boston) even when the estate does
not appear to be that large.
